Jump$tart Coalition to recognize Chairman Bernanke,
Senator Akaka, Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz and Others in April

WASHINGTON, April 13, 2011 The Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy® will present Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke with its 2011 Federal Leadership Award this evening, in Washington, DC. This award recognizes Chairman Bernanke's leadership, contributions, and long-term commitment to the financial literacy effort, as well as many years of support to Jump$tart.

U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka, a previous winner of the Federal Leadership Award, will be honored with the Jump$tart Chairman's Award, recognizing his unwavering commitment to the financial literacy effort. Senator Akaka recently announced his plans to retire.

Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz, CFP®, president of Charles Schwab Foundation, will accept Jump$tart's William E. Odom Award for Visionary Leadership, honoring the significance of her contribution to personal finance education for youth through efforts such as Money Matters: Make it CountSM a program provided by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Charles Schwab Foundation.

Jump$tart's State Coalition of the Year Award will be accepted by Rodney E. Reed, Finance Bureau Chief of the Iowa Division of Banking and state coalition president, on behalf of the Iowa Jump$tart Coalition.

In addition, the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), one of the Jump$tart Coalition's founding partners; will present the winner of its national financial literacy poster contest for students. Jordan Lane-Palmer, a 9th grade student from West Palm Beach, Florida, will unveil his winning artwork.

Michelle Singletary, the nationally syndicated personal finance columnist for the Washington Post, will serve as the program emcee.

Jump$tart's Annual Awards Dinner will be held at the Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel on April 13, 2011. About 300 leaders and supporters of financial literacy attend the event, which raises funds for Jump$tart's national operation.
